There are several concerns about the possible consequences of opting out of state tests. While it is the stance of those who oppose the testing for their high stakes nature (which are based on flawed metrics, have led to ranking and sorting, school closures, and now teacher evaluations) that the consequences of not opting out are far greater, it’s important to know the facts.
There have been NO budgetary consequences for the opt outs that happened at the Earth School last year. All schools have faced budget cuts, and this is being investigated by groups of parents. There are funding cuts at the network level that strongly suggest that the shift in funding is going towards financing the costs associated with testing.
